Key Milestones

Our business model began after winning first place at UX Fest SLO, where we created 17 high-fi screens in under 24 hours, and presented to a panel of judges consisting of Senior UX Designers at Amazon and MayoClinic.

After four months further building our start-up, go-to-market strategy, and competitive analyses, we pitched to 16 investors for a $30,000 prize pool of seed funding.

Why CSA Connect?

We created CSA Connect to bridge a digital market gap, offering affordable, nutrient-rich products while fostering connections with local farmers for higher profits, benefiting both consumers and producers.

Process Flow

For UX Fest SLO

  • We…

    • Brainstormed the best possible way to address all aspects of the prompt

    • Conducted How Might We statements with sticker voting and used Crazy Eights to ideate with low-fi sketches

    • Scoped initial features through feedback from panelists and identified pursuit in regards to resources and timeframe

How Might We provide an easy-to-use platform for exploring CSA resources and connecting users with a variety of fresh produce while supporting local farmers?

  • We performed competitive market research reviewing…

    • Databases for current farm-boxes

    • Individually registered CSA farms and access thereof

    • CSA e-mail newsletters and delivery methods

    • Material from interviews with a USDA Registered Dietician and consistent farm-box consumers (based on time constraints we opted for user interviews in lieu of data collection)

    Our findings concluded…

The current system includes a multi-step process with no centralized ordering method, resulting in user confusion and lack to pursue interest and take action.

  • Users are tasked with conducting their own research to understand which farms, produce, and delivery options are available to them. Users need a simplified and consolidated hub of information, where they can sign up for individual boxes and enrich their diet with a new variety of produce.

  • We…

    • Utilized our panelist feedback and current state of information to create User Personas– aiming to identify crucial user issues

    Focusing on…

    • Adherence to our Design System

    • Maintaining core values of connection between consumer and producer, healthy living, and accessibility

    • Usability of key affordances through color palette & typeface size and weight, button indicators, cognitive load, consistency, and user empathy

  • Among over 100 participants and 23 teams, we were selected as one of six teams to present to a panel of judges, fellow competitors, and event organizers. We showcased our ideation, onboarding process & design flow, and passion for the user-friendly design in an engaging, educational, and professional manner, taking home first place.
